The New Statesman is looking for a weekend editor for its website.

The New Statesman is looking for a talented editor with a minimum of two years experience on a national magazine or mainstream news website.

We are looking for a talented all-rounder with a passion for current affairs and a keen insight into what New Statesman readers want. The ideal candidate will have the ability to write and edit a mix of breaking news, comment and feature articles. They will be skilled at generating ideas, will have experience of operating at the fast pace required in a digital newsroom, and will have an eye for spotting social media trends.

This is an exciting time of growth for the New Statesman. The job involves a five-day working week which will include the weekend, and the chance to be part of a dynamic team at Britain’s leading politics and culture magazine.

The role will involve:

Writing news stories and features.

The successful applicant should have:

First-class editing and writing skills.

A grounding in British and world politics.

A knowledge of media law.

A good grasp of web analytics and SEO.

In-depth understanding of social media.

Experience of commissioning.

Experience of using CMS.
