Why little has actually changed over England’s lockdown, despite government spin

We’ve learned a lot in the past 24 hours about the government’s strategy for tackling coronavirus – but even as ministers’ communication style has shifted, little of material has changed in terms of our rights.

As New Statesman’s Britain editor Anoosh Chakelian writes today, immediate measures announced for this week, which she breaks down point-by-point, “all represent a change in tone or guidance rather than the actual law”.
