Covid-19 daily report: Deaths continue to fall in most countries, but Brazil seeing spike

Daily deaths from Covid-19 continue to fall in most countries with the largest coronavirus outbreaks, latest figures show.

The US again reported the highest number of deaths worldwide yesterday, followed by the UK, but in both countries the number of daily deaths is falling.

The disease is spreading rapidly in Brazil. The country recorded 808 deaths yesterday, up from 571 from the same day last week.

The number of deaths recorded in many countries rose yesterday compared to Monday, but that is likely linked to a lag in data collection over the weekend.

At least 291,942 people have now died from the disease worldwide.
