Theresa May has been confronted by an angry voter on the campaign trail in Abingdon. The woman, called Cathy, took the Prime Minister to task for cuts to payments to people with disabilities, now rebranded Personal Independence Payments.

Cathy asked “are you going to help people with learning disabilities?” The Prime Minister responded: “We’ve got a lot of plans for people with mental health”. May has been criticised for her response by the disability charity Mencap, which said that it was “very worrying” that the Prime Minister confused mental health with learning disabilities.
