Police investigate firebomb attack on mosque amid fears of “revenge” for Woolwich attack

Scotland Yard is treating the fire at the Somali community centre in north London as suspicious.

By New Statesman

Police are investigating a fire that destroyed a community centre and mosque in north London, amid fears that it was firebombed as revenge for the Woolwich attack.

The Evening Standard reports:

Fire crews are reported to have seen the letters EDL scrawled on the side of the building as they battled the blaze at the centre in Muswell Hill.

The burned-out building housed the Somali Bravanese Welfare Association and the Al-Rahma Islamic Centre.

Scotland Yard has said it is treating the fire as suspicious.
