FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 24 MARCH 2014
The New Statesman and the Government of Gibraltar will today launch a six-month media partnership that will see New Statesman online host a Gibraltar microsite featuring the latest news, interviews and insight from the Rock.
The website will be live from today (24th March ) and can be viewed at www.newstatesman.con/gibraltar. The partnership will also include a monthly print feature.
The collaboration will keep Gibraltarian issues high on the media agenda. The site will feature topical insight on political issues ranging from the recent tensions with Spain, to Gibraltar’s relationship with Britain and the EU, as well as economics, business, tourism and culture.
Previous partnerships between the NS and Gibraltar have included three 16-page special reports on the Rock containing interviews and profiles of the territory’s influential business and political leaders.
Rt. Hon Fabian Picardo, Chief Minister of HM Government of Gibraltar, says:
“H M Government of Gibraltar is delighted to participate in the new project undertaken with the New Statesman to create an innovative online platform aimed at improving international awareness of Gibraltar. The project will undoubtedly play a major role in carrying the Gibraltar story around the world at a particularly difficult time of aggressive attempts to undermine the Gibraltarians and their economy.”
Jason Cowley, editor of the New Statesman, says:
“Our partnership with Gibraltar continues to take new forms, and the launch of this microsite is an ambitious next step. We look forward to generating thought-provoking content that will celebrate the rich history, politics and culture of this fascinating territory and British ally.”
