The New Statesman appoints two new international journalists

India Bourke and Ido Vock will be central to the expansion of our global affairs coverage.

By New Statesman

We are delighted to announce two new hires as part of the New Statesman’s ongoing international expansion.

India Bourke has joined us as online editor – international edition. Based in London and reporting to international editor Jeremy Cliffe and managing editor Will Dunn, she edits the New Statesman’s international web edition and writes on environmental and other world subjects. Previously, India was desk editor at AFP Asia Pacific in Hong Kong, and before that a writer and editorial assistant at the New Statesman. “Wherever I’ve lived or worked in the world, the New Statesman has always provided a touchstone of sceptical, independent thinking,” said India: “Especially now, I’m excited to be returning to work with such a talented and insightful team.”

Joining us in Berlin is Ido Vock, who reports to Jeremy Cliffe. As international correspondent he writes online articles, features and data pieces on global subjects. Ido is currently based in Tbilisi and speaks fluent French and some Russian. He said: “The New Statesman is one of the world’s great progressive magazines. I’m thrilled to be given the chance to develop its international expansion and become part of such a talented and incisive team.”

Jeremy Cliffe, international editor, said: “In India and Ido, the New Statesman has gained two hugely talented and worldly journalists. Their arrival follows that of our US editor Emily Tamkin in Washington, DC, and the launches of our new international web edition, newsletter and podcast. It will accelerate the expansion of our global affairs coverage and enable us to take it in exciting new directions.”

Jason Cowley, editor-in-chief of the New Statesman, said: “Under Jeremy’s leadership our international coverage has become essential reading. The return of India and the arrival of Ido strengthens the team and demonstrates our commitment to expanding our international coverage and taking the New Statesman‘s journalism into new markets.”
