How Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson won at Twitter

“You ok, hun?”

By Media Mole

Politicians’ Twitter feeds can be excruciating at the best of times, but during an election campaign the tedium has a tendency to surge beyond this mole’s wildest dreams (#labourdoorstep, anyone?). Hang tight, everyone – only a few more weeks to go.

And as has been noted on these pages before, Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson is a very capable politician, who has the enormous advantage of looking like she actually wants to take part in discussions about Britain’s future (unlike her boss down in Downing St).

“The best leader Scottish Labour will never have,” as she’s apparently known to some in Labour HQ also bucks the trend when it comes to social media. Last night, she broke in on a pompous and self-aggrandising little exchange between David Cameron and the actual Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy with this little gem:

Keep it up, Ruth – there are lots more men with political egos that need puncturing yet.
