Keith Vaz has resigned as chair of the Home Affairs select committee after the Sunday Mirror published allegations that he had paid for the services of two male escorts.
The Labour MP told the Mail on Sunday that he was stepping aside from the committee, which he has chaired since 2007, and that he had referred the allegations to his solicitor.
The Home Affairs select committee is currently undertaking a review of the UK’s prostitution laws.
