David Cameron is to chair National Citizen Service patrons, a fundraising body that supports one of his flagship “Big Society” programmes.
The National Citizen Service is a course for teenagers between 15 and 17 in England and Northern Ireland which includes outdoor challenges and social action projects.
Writing in The Telegraph, Cameron said: “I am delighted that my first role in my life after politics is to continue my association with this fantastic programme.”
After resigning as PM after the Brexit vote, Cameron initially seemed set to continue as an MP, but later resigned his seat as well. It was believed he would have trouble supporting policies he had openly disagreed with, such as expanding grammar schools.
When the NCS was announced in 2012, the Government described it as “a flagship initiative supporting the government’s vision for building the Big Society”.
