Quotes of the Episode:

Helen on the Conservative campaign: “It’s reassuring because I do feel like this is a party that is beatable… This is not some incredible monolith, with its much great money, which is completely unassailable.”

THANK YOU

Stephen on Corbyn: “He reminds me of the kind of dad who, when you get back from a house party, offers everyone a toke. You just feel very reassured by him. But he also feels tangible, in that way that Ed seemed a little bit like he was made of plastic.”

Helen on Corbyn: “He has got a strange kind of charisma: very homely, folksly – Julia once called him ‘Woodcraft Dad’. He just makes me think of badgers and foxes and the Animals of Farthing Wood. And that’s quite an appealing brand versus Theresa May.”

Stephen on Emily Thornberry: “She is clearly living her best life.”

Helen on El Gato: “Theresa May has kitten heels, Corbyn has an actual cat.”

Stephen on Barry Gardiner: “He’s got such a soothing voice. During the local elections he was doing the spin, and I was thinking I can’t have your soothing radio-voice at 4am while I’m trying to do a liveblog at Barry – I actually had to start pinching myself whenever he came on.”

Helen on a possible Labour leadership contest: “I feel like the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different answer.”
