Everyone’s favourite cartoon frog in a pinstriped suit Nigel Farage has tweeted a picture of himself hanging out, grinning, with France’s Front National leader Marine Le Pen.

Awwww. BFFs*.
This mole remembers when even Farage had enough decency not to associate with Le Pen’s party. When Ukip leader, he repeatedly ruled out an alliance with the Front National in the European Parliament, insisting in 2014: “That isn’t going to happen.”
He added: “We’ve got to find a group of people that we think are part of our political family with views that are consistent with classical liberal democracy.”
You can watch it here:
When Le Pen reached out to Ukip that year, the party commented that it would not associate with the party because of “prejudice and anti-Semitism” in the Front National and refused to be perceived as its British equivalent.
Perhaps such values have become increasingly palatable to Farage, or perhaps it’s simply a case of his mask slipping further (somewhere round his ankles) as he carves his own political path.
