Outsourcing firm reveals email addresses of nearly 300 contact tracers

By Samuel Horti

Outsourcing firm Serco has apologised after revealing the email addresses of nearly 300 contact tracers.

Serco is one of the firms hiring and training people to track incidences of coronavirus. When emailing a list of tracers about their training, it included all addresses in the CC section of the email, rather than in blind CC.

At least one person has raised the issue with the Information Commissioner, the BBC reports.

Serco apologised and said it would review its processes to avoid a repeat.

As we wrote in our morning briefing, ministers are facing an uphill battle to get a national contact tracing system ready before 1 June, after initially saying it would be up and running by mid-May.
