Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has caused further confusion around the government’s policy for leaving lockdown by suggesting people can see multiple family members at the same time, including a grandparent.
Yesterday, Downing Street briefed that people could meet someone from another household one on one, provided they stayed two metres apart. This morning, Raab claimed people could see both their parents at the same time – before his team later walked back on the comments, and said people could only meet one parent.
Now, Raab has told TalkRadio that “you will be able to go the park for example to see a grandparent with your family, and as long as you stay two metres apart”.
Not only does this suggest people can see multiple family members at once, but it suggests that, potentially, elderly people will be able to see their family outside, too.
A 50-page document of government guidance is expected this afternoon.
