Covid-19 daily report: Death rate continues to fall

The Covid-19 death rate has continued to fall in all the countries hardest hit by the virus.

The US is recording the most deaths in the world. It reported 731 yesterday, more than double the UK’s tally of 268.

Both countries seem to be on a slow downwards trajectory when you look at a rolling average of recent deaths.

The figures today are likely to be skewed downwards by reduced reporting at the weekend, so daily progress might seem better than it is in reality.
