Government publishes names of scientists in advisory group

By Samuel Horti

The government has published a near-complete list of members of its Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), which is advising ministers on the coronavirus response.

Most of the 50 scientists named as part of the main Sage group work in universities, while some work within government bodies. Two members of the main group asked not to be named.

The full list also includes the names of members of Sage’s seven sub-groups.

The government had been criticised for a lack of transparency after initially declining to make the names of Sage members public.
