Does Covid-19 signal the end for Jair Bolsonaro?

Public appetite for Jair Bolsonaro’s resignation is growing, writes Nick Burns. Having initially dismissed the coronavirus pandemic as a media-made hoax, the volatile right-wing president of Brazil could now be toppled by what just six weeks ago he was calling a “little flu”.

Bolsonaro’s defiance towards social distancing measures has done little to help guard against the worst outbreak of the virus in South America, and even now he is expending more energy on reshuffling and purging his cabinet than on proactive policymaking.
