Watch: New Statesman and MIB Webinar- Biotechnology, the Catalyst for a Sustainable Future

George Freeman MP, Dr Yvonne Armitage, Professor Lionel Clarke and Professor Rob Field explore the role of biotechnology in improving sustainability

By NS Events

Sustainable development is one of the biggest challenges facing society and industry as we look to meet today’s energy, food and manufacturing needs without exhausting the Earth’s resources. How might biotechnology help feed, fuel and heal a growing global population whilst reducing our carbon footprint?

In July, the New Statesman hosted an online panel discussion and live Q&A, sponsored by the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB). The event, chaired by former New Statesman deputy editor Jon Bernstein, brought together George Freeman MP, chair of the External Advisory Board for Future Biomanufacturing Research Dr Yvonne Armitage, co-chair of the UK Engineering Biology Leadership Council Professor Lionel Clarke OBE and director of MIB Professor Rob Field. The panel explored the role of biotechnology in improving sustainability and collaboration with industries.
