Under lockdown, children around the world are losing precious classroom hours. What can education systems do to ensure they don’t fall behind? And does the crisis present opportunities to redress global educational inequalities?

On 12 June, the New Statesman’s Spotlight policy supplement convened an online global policy forum, which brought together former and current leaders from politics, business and international organisations to discuss how we can meet the challenges of a post-pandemic world. In this session, the New Statesman‘s special projects editor Alona Ferber was joined by Stefania Giannini, assistant director- general for education at UNESCO and Alice Albright, CEO of Global Partnerships for Education, to discuss education policy in a world after coronavirus.
