We are delighted to announce that Jeremy Cliffe will be joining the New Statesman in the autumn as our new International Editor. Jeremy is currently Brussels bureau chief for the Economist and writes the weekly Charlemagne column. He joined in 2012 and has been political correspondent, Bagehot columnist and Berlin bureau chief. He studied at Oxford and Harvard universities and speaks English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
Jason Cowley, editor-in-chief of the New Statesman, said: “I have long admired the quality and breadth of Jeremy’s journalism. We are in the process of expanding the New Statesman and deepening our coverage of European and world politics and geopolitics. Jeremy will lead our international coverage, he will write a weekly column for the magazine and a weekly newsletter, essays and ideas-led pieces for print and online as well as contributing to podcasts. That he is joining us is testament to our ambition and the progress we have made in recent years. As part of our expansion, we will be appointing more senior journalists to new roles in due course.”
