Mitt Romney to Todd Akin: “Exit the Senate race.“

Quote of the day.

By New Statesman

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney urges Todd Akin to withdraw from the Senate race in Missouri after the uproar caused his claims that women’s bodies could prevent pregnancy in cases of “legitimate rape”:

“Today, his fellow Missourians urged him to step aside, and I think he should accept their counsel and exit the Senate race.”

The deadline before which Akin could withdraw without incurring financial penalities has now passed, and the next date for withdrawal is 25 September, although this would require a court order.
