Will Straw has been selected as the Labour candidate for Rossendale and Darwen at the 2015 election.
The son of former Cabinet secretary Jack Straw is a former editor of Left Foot Forward and associate director of the thinktank IPPR.
He will be up against Conservative MP Jake Berry, who has a majority of 4,493. Labour came second in the seat in the 2010 election, and the party’s candidate, Janet Anderson, had previously held it since 1992.
The seat is adjacent to Blackburn, where Jack Straw has been the MP since 1979.
After the selection meeting, Will Straw tweeted:
I am deeply honoured to be Labour’s candidate for Rossendale & Darwen. Now our campaign starts to win back this seat.
