For reasons too boring to go into, I reluctantly had to miss the Channel 4 debate between Alistair Darling, George Osborne and Vince Cable tonight. I caught the final bit, which involved a slightly wooden plea from Osborne for the “people” to “decide”.
From flicking through the immediate reviews, it appears not only that the Tory frontbencher had most to prove, but that — up against Darling’s robust streak and the popular, funny side of Cable — Osborne just about emerged the loser.
However, I can’t judge, so while I catch up with the rebroadcast online, please let me know your thoughts in the comments below. This, I think, is what they call an “open thread”.
