Interesting to see the Guardian this morning describe, in its lead politics story, the “complete collapse” of Wednesday’s attempted coup against Gordon Brown, after it excitedly devoted the first six pages of Thursday’s paper to it.
The paper is in a tricky position since calling for Brown to go last summer, when it expected the last coup attempt to work.
Where the paper now goes editorially — will it back certain Labour candidates, the Lib Dems, or even what it regards as the “progressive” Tories? — is part of the talk of Westminster, and one to watch.
