Merry Christmas from The Staggers

We’ll be taking a short break over the holiday period.

By Staff Blogger

This is just a quick post to let you know that things will be going quiet here over the weekend as we at The Staggers are taking a break for Christmas. We’ll be back next week with more news, views and analysis.

In the meantime, here are five posts worth revisiting:

1. Winners and Losers of 2010 An irreverent look at the ten people who came out on top this year – and the ten who fared less well.

2. The real winners of the Vince Cable debacle The bankers have triumphed yet again, argues Mehdi Hasan.

3. Anthony Howard: 1934-2010 Jonathan Derbyshire compiles memories of the former New Statesman editor, who passed away this month.

4. Inside the Parliament Square kettle If you missed Laurie Penny’s impassioned reports from the heart of the student protests, this is a good place to start.

5. Exclusive: Ted Hughes’s poem on the night Sylvia Plath died Back in October, the New Statesman published a previously unseen work by Ted Hughes. Read about it here.

NOTE: As you may have noticed, there has been a slight delay in the publication of comments over the last fortnight. This is due to a minor problem with the NS site, which means that all comments have to be read and individually published by a member of staff. Unfortunately the problem has not yet been resolved, so your comments will not be published instantly over the Christmas period.

We love hearing from you and appreciate that this is frustrating. The problem should be resolved early in the New Year. In the meantime, many thanks to everyone who has contributed this year to help make discussion at The Staggers so vibrant and lively.
