The New Statesman cartoonist launches artists' campaign against funding cuts.

By Oliver Cussen

NS cartoonist David Shrigley has launched a high-profile campaign against government cuts to the arts with this video, in which he argues the arts offer us “something different than the latest Hollywood teen vampire bollocks, or reality TV”.

Over 100 leading artists, including Damien Hirst, David Hockney, Anish Kapoor and Tracey Emin, are involved in the campaign, and each week will see the release of the work of a different artist, created in response to the campaign. Supporters of the artists’ campaign can also sign this petition which will be sent to the Culture Secretary, Jeremy Hunt.
