It would be nice to report back from the lobby this afternoon with some information from the political front line. But there was none. The new Prime Minister’s shiny new spokesman, Michael Ellam was polite and quietly spoken. The reshuffle will be announced tomorrrow and there was no comment on rumours that Margaret Beckett and Patricia Hewitt are for the chop. In fact there was no comment on pretty much everything. The pack became a little restless in the heat. But only a little. Gordon Brown has said he will play it by the book: parliament is back, cabinet government is back, everything is very proper. What will we find to write about?
