What better time than a country’s Independence Day to absolutely rinse them over social media. Americans were yesterday met with a flurry of tweets from Brits wishing them a Happy 4th of July, some entirely genuine and others… less so.
The Canadian Embassy in the UK delivered a particularly savage tweet to the UK-based US Embassy. Mocking the US Embassy’s melodramatic, West Wing style, this-is-so-American-it-kills-me Twitter cover photo, the Canadians sent over a picture of their very own.

The most artfully passive aggressive tweet came from the West End production of Hamilton. Posted alongside an otherwise benign message was this picture of the UK cast:

In case you can’t see it, or that you missed it, that t-shirt does indeed read “Columbus was a murderer.”
In a reply to their own tweet, the Hamilton team sent another message to the US saying, “You’ll be back…”
Whether or not the rest of the UK wants America back, though, remains unclear.
