What is it with Elvis and elections?

He is always on their minds.

By Jon Bernstein

A strange coincidence or proof that he is still among us? Two election rallies in two days and two sightings of Elvis Presley. Or rather, two Elvis impersonators. Today Sarah and Gordon Brown encountered an ersatz King of Rock and Roll at an event in Corby.

Yesterday Czech politician, Chairman of the Czech Social Democratic Party Jiří Paroubek was joined on an Ostrava stage by another Elvis-a-like (picture via lidovky.cz).

Why Elvis? Perhaps party handlers are too busy thinking of the positive headlines (The Wonder of You etc) to think clearly about the negative (Return to Sender etc).
