Top Ten Christian Blogs

The Staggers presents its list of top ten Christian blogs from around the world.

To herald the news that Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, guest edited this week’s New Statesman magazine, The Staggers has compiled a list of the top Christian blogs from around the world that offer commentary, advice and analysis about Christianity.

And they are:

1. The Church Mouse Blog – The Church mouse sees and hears all, but being a mouse, he can’t speak. So he blogs.

Anglican blogger focusing on the interaction between Church-goers and non Church-goers. The Church Mouse professes to “see everything that’s going on in Church.” Posts on a range of contemporary issues, including Lady Gaga Theology and commentary on the BBC’s stance towards Christians. Regularly writes for the Belief section of the Guardian‘s Comment is Free.

2. What Does The Prayer Really Say? – Blog of U.S cleric Fr. John Zuhlsdorf.

Blog of U.S cleric Fr. John Zuhlsdorf professing to provide a “slavishly accurate liturgical translations & frank commentary on Catholic issues”. Posts about a range of topics, including commentary on sacred texts and a description of what Fr. Zuhlsdorf had for dinner last night.

3. The Hermeneutic of Continuity – Personal blog of Fr. Tim Finnigan, Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Southwark.

Personal blog of Fr. Tim Finnigan, Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Southwark, parish priest of Our Lady of the Rosary, Blackfen. Posts include an account of a pilgrimage to Lourdes, a Christain flashmob in Beirut, and latest masses and services.

4. The Twurch of England – Twitter aggregate of the Church of England.

Blog of the Twurch of England, a website that aggregates all the twitter feeds relating to the Church of England. Podcasts and other multimedia available, and blog posts often involve guest bloggers from other popular Anglican blogs.

5. The Gospel Coalition – fellowship of US evangelical Churches.

A fellowship of US evangelical Churches blogging about “gospel-centred ministry for the next generation”. Posts about biblical stories and contemporary affairs.

6. The Resurgence – US based website seeking to popularise the Christian religion.

US based website that seeks to inform and connect believers around the world in the ultimate aim of popularising the Christian religion. Offers a wide variety of content, including advice about spiritual living and family relationships, as well as organising events and training sessions for missional ministry.

7. Archbishop Cranmer – Right-wing blogger pontificates on moral matters.

Right-wing UK blogger professing to examine “religio-political agendas with politico-religious objectives”. Offers a religious take on politics and current affairs. Recent posts include an analysis of David Cameron’s policy against Islamism and Mitt Romey’s 2012 White House bid.

8. Desiring God – Blog of US pastor John Piper.

God-centred resources from the Ministry of John Piper, pastor at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Most content centres around interpretation of Biblical Theology and practical advice for spiritual living.

9. Next Gener.Asian Church – American Asian Christians blogging about culture and religion.

A collaborative Blog discussing Asian and American culture and the Christian faith. Self-professed aim to bring together “writers from different ethnic Asian American backgrounds who have the common goal of seeing Jesus Christ magnified in our cultural contexts ”

10. Missionary Blogs – A collection of blogs from around the world.

A compilation of over 500 missionary bloggers from around the world, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and The Americas.

N. B. The list is not exhaustive, but gives a flavour of what sort of online resources are out there for the global Christian community.
