Andrew Stephen, our man in Washington, wrote last week that he doubted “whether one in a hundred Americans knows that British voters go to the polls on 6 May”. Well, a few more do now, thanks to Gillian Duffy, Bigotgate and Jon Stewart’s subsequent take on Comedy Central’s Daily Show.
